Christmas In Liskeard 2023

The lights are switched on and it’s definitely beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in Liskeard. Here’s a round up of all the lovely festive events in town in the run up to the big day itself.

Christmas Fair

November 27th-December 20th, 9.30 am-3.30 pm (closes 12.30 pm on Saturdays, closed Wednesday and Sunday) at Stuart House

The Christmas Fair is open until 2oth December! Lots of wonderful handcrafted items for sale so come and have a browse. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays 9.30-3.30 and Saturdays until 12.30.

Hillfort Christmas Fayre

December 1st, 4pm-6pm at Hillfort Primary School, West Street

There will be local crafters and businesses, Santa’s Grotto (booking for this is essential), Raffle, face painting, refreshments and more!

All money raised will benefit all of the Children at the School.

Santas on a Bike Charity Ride

December 2nd approx 2pm on The Parade

Coming to Liskeard on Saturday 2nd December, the popular annual charity ride featuring hundreds of Santas on a motorbikes, raising funds for Children’s Hospice South West.

This hospice does such a wonderful job for the children and families of the South West when they are in their greatest need. All funded by donations.

Please come and cheer on this ride and spread the word. Every penny donated will go to this fantastic cause!

Christmas Bazaar

December 2nd, 10am – 2pm at Liskeard Catholic Church, West Street

Our Lady and St Neot RC Church will be holding a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday 2nd December at 10am until 2pm.

Join them for some early Christmas Gift Shopping!  Stalls will include Crafts, Home Made Cakes, Chutneys, Bric a Brac, Books and Jigsaws.

Refreshments and a raffle.  £250 First prize – draw at 1.30pm.

East Cornwall Bach Choir Christmas Concert

December 2nd – 7.30pm at St Martin’s Church

The choir looks forward to performing the lovely mass ‘Missa O Magnum Mysterium’ by Tomàs Luis de Victoria and a programme of other Christmas Motets of the Renaissance period by William Byrd, Richard Dering, G P da Palestrina and Mateo Flecha.

In addition there will be opportunity for the audience to join the choir in singing a selection of well-loved carols.

The concert starts at 7.30pm, preceded by a pre-concert talk at 7 pm by the choir’s charismatic Musical Director, Simon Dunbavand. Refreshments will be on sale during the interval.

Christmas Tree Festival

December 2nd to Christmas Eve, 10 am-12.30 pm at Liskeard Methodist Church

The ever popular Christmas Tree Festival at Liskeard Methodist Church returns from Saturday 2nd December this year. The church is full of dozens of trees beautifully decorated by local groups, entry is free and the doors are open 10am-12.30pm, Monday to Friday through until Christmas Eve.

Community Christingle

December 3rd, 3pm-5pm at St Martin’s Church

St Martin’s Church Christingle takes place on Sunday 3rd December, 3-5pm.

  • Children’s Christingle Making at 3pm (with a café)
  • Christingle service at 4pm

Liskeard Lions Xmas Bingo

December 5th, 7pm at Liskeard Public Hall, West Street

Join Liskeard Lions for Christmas bingo at the Public Hall on Tuesday 5th December. Doors open 7pm, eyes down at 8pm.

There will be lots of prizes including generous hampers for full house and additional prizes for lines as well as a raffle.

All ages are welcome but the cash call is for adults only. There is limited parking but good disabled access.

Meet Santa

December 9th and 16th, 11am-4pm at Fat Frog Café, Market Street

Liskeard Trader’s Association are running a Santa’s Grotto in the Fat Frog Café. £5 per child, which includes a present, milkshake and raffle ticket!

Christmas at the Museum

December 9th-22nd,10 am-4 pm weekdays, 10am-1pm Saturdays at Liskeard & District Museum

Gans Kerensa means ‘with love’ in Cornish. From 9th-22nd December, Liskeard & District Museum have a new seasonal display including vintage Christmas cards, winter crafts and festive events. Free entry

Nadelik – An Interactive Festive Show

Saturday 10th December at 11am at The Liskerrett Centre.
NADELIK is a delightful, interactive festive show for children and their families, with live action, puppetry, and a heap of festive cheer.

Elf the Musical

Friday 15th December – 7pm, Saturday 16th December – 2pm, Saturday 16th December – 7pm, Monday 18th December – 7pm, Tuesday 19th December – 7pm and Wednesday 20th December – 7pm at Liskeard Public Hall

Based on the hit film, Elf the Musical is the hilarious story of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list, and his step-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Nativity Musical – Keep Calm and Carol On

December 15th and 16th, 7 pm at St Martin’s Church

St Martin’s Church have their Nativity musical ‘Keep Calm and Carol On’ at 7pm on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th December in the church.

There will be a licensed bar and lots of original catchy songs!
Admission is £1 donation towards the Foodbank.

Christmas at Café Fleur

December 16th, 1pm – 3pm at Café Fleur, Plymouth Road,

  • 1pm til 2pm – Meet and greet Santa receiving a free gift and enjoy a delicious hot chocolate adding all your favourite toppings. £3
  • 2pm til 3pm – Come and join in with Liskeard Ladies Choir, enjoy mince pies, coffee, tea etc.

Christmas Civic Carol Concert

December 16th, 6 pm at Liskeard Methodist Church, Windsor Place, Liskeard, PL14 4BL

Everyone welcome at the Methodist Church for their annual civic carol service.

Christmas Carol Concert

December 17th, 7pm at St Martin’s Church

A very special Carol service with music led by the choir, as well as Liskeard Silver Band. It’s always a season highlight!

Christmas Sing-a-Long

December 20th, 10.30am – 12pm at Liskeard Library

Feeling festive and love Christmas songs? This is an amazing event for you! On Wednesday 20th December in the courtyard. Everyone will be singing Christmas carols and getting in the Christmas spirit.

No Booking required. FREE event!

Carols by Candle Light 

Saturday 23rd December at 4.30pm. There will be carols by candlelight at Our Lady & St Neot Catholic Church in Liskeard.

There will be Tea/Coffee & Mince Pies afterwards.

December 24th, 9.30 am – 12.30 pm at The Workshed, Liskeard Cattle Market
