A Historic Walk to Ladye Park

June 4, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Lady Park WalkA historical walk following an ancient pilgrimage route along Old Road, Liskeard will take place on Sunday 4th June. The walk will be a rare opportunity to visit the site of the ancient shrine at Ladye Park, with the kind permission of the current owners.

The circular walk of about 2.5 miles will be led by popular local walk leader, Brian Oldham, of Liskeard Walkers are Welcome. At Ladye Park, there will be time for quiet prayer and contemplation. Parish priest, Fr Gilmour McDermott will lead a short act of worship, during which a hymn will be sung, which was written especially for the shrine in 1979 by the late Margaret Pollard. The walk will follow the ancient Mass Path, which is very steep and uneven, so stout footwear should be worn.

Everyone is welcome. The walk will start at the Roman Catholic church of Our Lady and St Neot, West Street, Liskeard after the 11.00 Mass. Walkers are welcome to join members of the congregation for tea or coffee in the St Neot Room of the church, just after midday. The walk will set out at 12.30pm on Sunday 4th June and also pick up at the top entrance to Westbourne car park at 12.30 for anyone who is unable to start from the church. Walkers are invited to bring their own packed lunch and the walk will aim to return to town by 3.00pm.
