Padstow ‘Obby ‘Oss

May 1, 2020

|Recurring Event (See all)
1st May unless a Sunday - then 2nd May

May Day (or ‘Obby ‘Oss Day as it is known outside Padstow) is the biggest day in Padstow’s calendar. It is not unusual to see 30,000 people crammed into the little town. It is a day when Padstonians from all over the world return to their roots. The origins of this traditional celebration are lost in the midst of time but it is thought to celebrate the arrival of Spring and it may even be an ancient fertility festival.
