Quethiock VE80 Exhibition – Sunday May 11th, 2-5pm, St. Hugh’s Church
Do come along to St. Hugh’s on May 11th 2-5pm and find out what life was like in Quethiock during WW2.
- What did the Home Guard get up to?
- Where did the bombs land?
- Why were American troops with their tanks hidden in the woods?
- Who were the evacuees and where did they stay?
- Who was caught ‘showing a light’?
- How did the village party?
- How much money was raised for Weapons Week, Warship Week, Wings for Victory etc.
In addition to the exhibition, there will be a ‘museum’ of intriguing wartime memorabilia,
a 1939 vintage Fieldmaster tractor, a ‘Dig for Victory’ plant stall, delicious cream teas and cake at St.Hugh’s cafe (including the opportunity to taste teatime treats 1940s style), and live 40s music from Joe, Angela and Li.
For children, there is a wartime fancy dress competition as well as other activities.
