St Cleer Well Dressing

May 16 @ 10:15 am - 11:30 am

| Free

The annual Well Dressing Ceremony at St Cleer Holy Well and Cross will this year accompany the fourth installment of a series of public beacon lightings to celebrate Cornwall Heritage Trust’s 40th anniversary. It takes place on Friday 16th May at 10.15am.

Location: St Cleer Holy Well and Cross, St Cleer, Liskeard, PL14 5DX – What3Words: ///dart.regulates.releases

The well dressing will involve the children from St Cleer Primary School and the local community. The blessing of the well will take place in Cornish and English, with short prayers by the local Curate and singing.
Cornish dancing and the lighting of our specially commissioned mini-brazier will also take place.

The event is free, you don’t need to be members and there’s no need to book. Just come along and enjoy!

About the site
Thought to date from the early 16th century, St Cleer Holy Well has been a site of pilgrimage across the centuries. It is unique in its open-sided architectural form and the mouldings on the building’s capitals are also unusual. The site came into the care of Cornwall Heritage Trust in November 2022 and was removed from the Heritage at Risk Register in November 2023.

This event is in aid of Cornwall Heritage Trust – the small, independent charity protecting Cornwall’s heritage for everyone.
