Join us for a day of wildlife discovery and recording at Golitha Falls National Nature Reserve!
Learn about and explore the wildlife that live in Draynes Wood, with help from our NNR team and a range of interactive resources. Record species you see using iNaturalist, where we can keep a track on how many species we find!
Wednesday, May 29th. Drop in at any time between 10am and 4pm.
Activities Include:
  • Wildlife Learning Sessions: Delve into the fascinating world of the reserve’s wildlife at our pop-up stand, led by knowledgeable guides. Learn about and record the diverse flora and fauna that call Golitha Falls home! Download and sign up to the app iNaturalist to record the species you see: https://www.inaturalist.org/
  • Moth Trapping: See the contents of our moth traps and discover these nocturnal beasties that inhabit the reserve.
  • Butterfly stand: We are joined by our partners from Cornwall Butterfly Conservation, who will be able to tell you all about their work on the nearby Bodmin Moor.
  • River Invertebrate Surveying: Dive into the world beneath the water’s surface and assist our experts in surveying the fascinating array of bugs found in the River Fowey! Discover the vital role these creatures play in maintaining the health of our waterways.
No prior experience is necessary for any of these activities – just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm for nature! Feel free to drop in at any time throughout the day and explore at your own pace.
