Looe Festival of the Sea

May 1, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

A bit of everything this year as Looe celebrates its links with the sea. The Cornwall Wildlife Trust and Looe Marine Conservation Group will be celebrating Looe’s fishing heritage with an educational focus on what fish to eat and why. Looe lifeboat station is celebrating the fact that it is 150 years since the station opened and St Pinnock Band (who are also 150 years old this year) will be joining together with local choirs and entertainers to put on a musical feast.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust will be around to talk about the Cornwall Good Seafood Guide during a day that will hopefully feature  mackerel fishing trips with local boatmen followed by chef demonstrations and a mackerel BBQ. There will rockpool rambles, crabbing competitions, loads of stalls with themes from sharks to sea grass and if all goes to plan an air sea rescue display (This is still to be confirmed and might even have to be cancelled on the day if a proper rescue occurs)

Many more events are in the planning, watch this space!
