Pillaton Parish Gardens, Saltash – Open for National Garden Scheme

June 21, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

| £4 combined admission/children free

Pillaton is a quiet village in SE Cornwall with C12 church and thriving village pub, set in farmland above the R Lynher valley. Two gardens are open this year.

South Lea, a colourful, cottage style garden in the village centre has extensive views across the valley. About 0.3 acre, it presents a tropical theme to the front, and steps up to a newly planted dry/arid area. The S-facing rear garden has sun terraces, greenhouse, garden room, sloping and level lawns, herbaceous borders, good sized pond and shady woodland area. Seating is provided in all areas.

Pilaton Gardens NGS North Sillaton Farmhouse, 1½m away, has about 1 acre. The property was bought at Duchy auction 27 years ago. Apart from a privet hedge, everything has since been added. This mixed garden, on a S-facing slope, has a pond, herbaceous border, vegetable beds and fruit trees with poly tunnel, small poultry house and several outbuildings. To the north is a Cornish hedge. There are several areas to sit with protection from the weather
