St Neot Oak Apple Day

A new branch of an oak tree is hoisted to the top of the church tower on every Oak Apple Day.  This is in commemoration of Charles II, who in 1651, hid from his enemies after the battle of Worcester in the branches of an oak and resolved that the day should always be remembered
