Woolly Workshop – Woollen vs Worsted Spinning
October 5 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm| £29
Explanation of the differences between the two spinning extremes. Hand carding for perfect rolags and spinning them with an English woollen longdraw. Hand combing and spinning worsted.
Date: Wednesday 5th October, 10am-4pm
Tutor: Amanda Hannaford
Suitable for: intermediate spinners
Materials: Each student will need a spinning wheel in good working order (there won’t be time in class to sort out non-functioning wheels). Students should bring at least two empty bobbins, and a skeiner or niddy-noddy would also be useful, plus a notebook and pencil. Students will also need hand carders, flick carders and wool combs if they own them (but don’t go out and buy them specially – some will be provided for use in class)
All our workshops are at the Liskerrett Community Centre this year. Their Hub Café serves delicious vegetarian food at affordable prices – why not treat yourself to lunch while you’re there.
You can book in person or over the phone at Liskeard TIC, which is in the same building as the museum on Pike Street, pop in, call 01579 349148 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
