There’s lots of fun, creative things happening for absolutely everyone to enjoy in Liskeard over the next month.

Take your pick from a load of free workshops where you can try something new.

Or, come into Liskeard Town on the 26th March and join in the celebrations.

LISKEARD SPRING CELEBRATION – 26TH MARCH

FREE EVENTS

10:30 – 12:30 – Free Face Painting with Funtime Faces

A celebration just isn’t complete without face painting!

Look out for Jenny on Fore St where she will be set up.

10:30 – 12:30 – The Pilgrimage of the Pixies!

Watch Out! There will be two Cornish pixies chalking on pavements and causing good humoured mischief around Fore Street and throughout the town. Keep you eyes peeled if you want to spot them!

11:00 – 11:20 – Samba Kernow

Feel good beats and high energy grooves throughout Fore Street.

11:30 Curious Creatures from Dance Centred

Expect the unexpected as a group of colourful dancers travel through the town, stopping to dance. Watch out, you might just be invited to join in! Starting on Fore Street

12:00 – 12:20 – Samba Kernow

A chance to catch them again but this time as they marching on through The Parade!

12:30 – 1:30 – Company B

The infamous rowdy jump jive band will be bringing the best of their high energy party atmosphere to the streets of Liskeard. Tap your toes, move your body and boogie your socks off. Don’t miss out!

(If the weather is rubbish we’ll be heading to The Public Hall.)

Screen Printing
Sat 5th March
Studio 1, The Liskerrett Centre
10am – 4pm, x1 slots

Join Nicky Harwood in her studio for this fun screen printing workshop. Help make an original set of bunting to decorate Fore Street for our Spring Celebration Day on March 26th!

In each 1 hour slot there will be a maximum of 5 participants, children welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. You will need to wear a mask.

Peek into Liskeard’s Past
Sat 12th March
Liskeard Museum, Pike Street.
12.30pm

A new book from Liskeard & District Museum delves into the successes and struggles of Liskeard’s little known residents. Brian Oldham, author and museum volunteer will read true stories from the book, selected randomly by numbers from the audience. The sources of these sometimes sad, sometimes amusing ‘Peeks’ will also be discussed. Get your copy signed and ask Brian all your Liskeard related questions.

Woodland Wonders

Join Lizzie of Sparrows & Sycamores Forest School for fun, exploration and the development of new skills. With team games, den building, woodland craft and nature connections.

Gelli Plate Printing
Weds 16th March
The Liskerrett Centre
10am – 3pm

Join Nicky Harwood for a fun introduction to Gelli plate printing, a simple but exciting press free printmaking process. Experimenting with different techniques including layering and image transfer.

All materials supplied. Maximum of 8 participants.

Painting with Pete Nance
Weds 16th March
The Liskerrett Centre
10am – 12.30pm

Atmosphere in the landscape with Pete Nance. Each participant will watch a brief demo and then draw or paint from a provided reference photo. Pete will be at hand to give advice and feedback.

Maximum of 6 participants.

Drumming with Samba Kernow
Weds 16th March
Hillfort Primary
6.30pm – 8.30pm

Come and try your hand at a whole range of percussion instruments to experience the samba drumming style – and to produce a samba piece by the end of the session.

Maximum of 12 participants

Dance workshop with Lois Taylor
Weds 16th March
The Liskerrett Centre
2pm – 3.30pm

Enjoy a little exercise, learn a fun dance routine and stay for a cuppa. If you like the dance routine you learn, you might want to be part of a group of people dancing with us on 26th March!

An introduction to Yoga
Thurs 17th March
Sukha Shala Yoga Centre
10am – 11.30pm

Explore the different styles of Yoga with Christina, giving you a better and clearer understanding of what yoga really is. We will touch on yoga philosophy, move through some gentle stretches, standing poses and breath work (pranayama). You will leave this workshop feeling calm, peaceful and informed.

Moo Music

Moo Music are a multi-sensory music and movement group and use a range of lights, puppets, instruments and a whole host of other props to have a lot of Moo Music fun! All session are designed by Early Years specialists and are led by highly experienced and qualified teachers.

People will be able to use the soft play afterwards.
Suitable from birth to 5 years. Maximum of 12 participants

Qigong – Beginners
Thurs 17th March
The Liskerrett Centre
1pm – 2pm

You will learn six exercises that you can take home to practise, so you can start to bring Qigong into your daily life. The movements are soft and slow, each one repeated several times to help you feel the flow. Qigong is done standing but everything can be adapted for sitting. Qigong is particularly good for balance and for relief from stress. Wear soft shoes and comfortable loose clothes.

Somatics for Pain Relief
Thurs 17th March
The Liskerrett Centre
2.30pm – 3.30pm

In this workshop you will learn some sitting movements to relieve tension in the neck and shoulders, and some lying down movements to address the tension held in the centre of the body. Somatics is gentle and relaxing and brings about great changes with minimal effort.

Please bring a mat to lie on and wear warm comfortable clothes.
Maximum of 20 participants
